Moisturized hair tends to be stronger and less prone to breakage. So, there is a wide variety to choose from. Most of them work very well too. …problem is, most of them are also very expensive! I am very well aware of that hence why I was so ecstatic to find a product from DARK AND LOVELY that presented a little less damage to the wallet. AU NATURALE!  Of course, I was a little skeptical.  What could they have compromised on to make this product less pricey? None the less I picked up two pr...

As a result, they need to be protected as much as possible.  Protective hairstyles help a lot with this. Protective hairstyles are basically any styles that can help keep your ends tucked away.  A  bun is a protective hairstyle. In fact, a bun is a protective hairstyle at its simplest. My story: Why I started embracing my natural hair

It's become popular. Some people think it’s just a trend. That soon enough, like bad flu it will pass. Natural hair this natural hair that!  It gets tiring, right? More so because we are not trend followers but trendsetters right? Well no!! natural hair is not ‘just a trend’ and it will not just ‘pass like bad flu’. Not for me, it won’t! To me, my hair is who I am. It represents me.  Day in and day out I learn a whole lot about myself and about hair itself. Having to follow a regimen gives me some sort of discipline.  I get extra motivation to eat well and take care of my body just for my hair. I could go on, but then I’d lose the purpose of this post. before the knowledge of taking care of afros I am not going to judge you about what you choose to do with your hair here. at the end of the day, it is how or what you feel comfortable and beautiful in that matters.  Incurred benefits I can only assure you, having been in both worlds, t...

How to take care of your afro

B efore we get into the content of this blogpost let me clear up something. We might all have afros, but our textures are not all the same.  Your natural hair is your own.  You might experience slight differences in result from what I get for the same amount of effort.  Particularly with hair products. Different products may work well with some textures than others. You need to own and embrace your own texture.  Experiment with your hair and find out what works best for it.  Managing an afro is one of the biggest frustrations people have.  You can’t comb it, you can’t tame it, heck can’t do anything with it.  However, it is not a lost cause.  There are a lot of things you can do to your hair to make it manageable.  Some very tedious, but very much effective and some very easy and also effective.  Both of these do require some amount of discipline and dedication. In this post, I am going to tell you how to manage your hair wit...
